Living the Old Life
Labor Day weekend we went to an 1850s farm in Tennessee, and they were having a county fair. I learned that it was very cold in the houses in winter because the only heat in the house was the fire. I also learned how to play cricket. I was so close to winning a pie eating contest! Next I learned how to play some 1850s games like toss the beanbag in the squash, Rolly Hole, and marble guessing, and I won a prize! We also saw animals like oxen, sheep, pigs, and a few more. At the county fair I learned that people in the 1850s had to work a lot.
